Issued by: Telephonics Corporation
Telephonics Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Griffon Corporation (NYSE:GFF), announced today a contract award from the US Army Aviation and Missile Command for the TruLink Wireless Intercommunication System.
The contract, valued in excess of $11 Million, is to develop and qualify a Type 1 encryption capability, known as the Windtalker Encryption Device (WED), for the TruLink system in support of Army Air Warrior & Navy Aircraft Wireless Intercommunication applications.
TruLink, in the Aircraft Wireless Intercommunication System (AWIS) configuration, provides wireless hands free intercommunications. TruLink eliminates safety issues associated with the use of long cord/wired communication systems.
The Windtalker Encryption Device (WED) enhances the functionality of the TruLink system by providing the first available Type 1 encrypted secure wireless intercommunication capability to be certified by NSA for these applications. Telephonics will be utilizing the expertise provided by its subcontract partner General Dynamics C4 Systems in the design, development and qualification of the Windtalker Encryption Device. "The addition of the Windtalker Encryption Device to the TruLink product family will fill a critical capability gap currently present with our Army and Navy customers" said Phil Nicholas, President Telephonics Communication Systems. "We appreciate the confidence shown in Telephonics capabilities as a prime contractor by the Army and Navy in the award of this important contract."
Work on this program is to be performed in Telephonics facilities in Farmingdale, New York.
