PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Metronor AS
Solutions for documenting or verifying large and complex tubes – such as those found in the oil and chemical industries but also in aircraft or heavy vehicles – traditionally involve expensive large-volume laser scanners capturing millions of points and advanced software to sort, interpret and extract the required information. TeZet and Metronor now presents a fast, inexpensive and extremely easy to use alternative for directly capturing the required data.
By combining the simplicity and large-volume capability of the Metronor SOLO system with the amazingly easy-to-use software from TeZet, the user is able to simply walk around capturing the required dimensions of the tubes with the Metronor hand-held probe and automatically creating a CAD model of it in the TeZet software. For example, to document a stretch of straight tube, the operator indicates three points at one end of the tube, and then a couple of more points further down the tube to define the direction. Bends, flanges, intersections and tube length are documented with the same ease.
The SOLO system handles volumes up to 10 meters and beyond in a single setup – depending on the required accuracy – and if required, repositioning is done in seconds. The probe is light-weight, wireless and uses different length styli to reach tubes hidden from direct view.
Since only the required data is captured, the process is fast and efficient with immediate results without any need for post-processing huge amounts of data. The TeZet and Metronor solution represents a smart and cost-efficient alternative for tube measurement, documentation and dimensional control, and will be demonstrated live at the Control show (stand 5304 in Halle 5) in Stuttgart April 22nd through 25th. For further information contact TeZet or Metronor.
