PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: SCHOTT North America, Inc. - Lighting and Imaging
The German technology group Schott has announced that its modular seat-integrated reading lights are being qualified by the world's two leading aircraft manufacturers.
Every part, no matter how small, that goes into an airplane must first go through a time- and cost-intensive qualification and certification process. Because the modular Schott reading lights have completed the qualification successfully, the certification of individually tailored reading lights will only need to undergo a shortened and simplified test procedure. "Our customers will be able to save a lot of time and money," explains Klaus Portmanns, Business Manager for Aviation at Schott Lighting and Imaging.
"We are delighted to see that our unique approach of having a technical standard thoroughly evaluated once and thus allowing for individual product designs to be realized more quickly on this basis is being received so well in the industry," Portmanns adds. "We see ourselves on the way to establishing a new industry standard."
All parties involved stand to benefit from products that are available more quickly, greater freedom of design and greatly simplified processes in keeping with Schott Aviation's motto 'Design and Simplicity.'
