Signature of a contract between Turbomeca (Safran) and SKF Aerospace
Thursday, 20 June 2013

Turbomeca (Safran) and SKF Aerospace have signed today a contract covering a period of 10 years and for a value of approximately 90 million Euros. This contract concerns the supply of bearings, in particular for Turbomeca's newest engine, the Arrano.

Olivier Andriès, Turbomeca Chairman & CEO, commented: "We are delighted to sign this contract with SKF which positions itself as a partner that combines operational performance and innovation. This contract is fully in line with the 'supplier transformation plan' launched last year. For Turbomeca it is a matter of identifying the key partners committed to a triple performance in terms of quality, costs and deadlines, involving them upstream in developments and engaging with them in the long term."

Stéphane Le Mounier, SKF Aerospace President, said: "This contract confirms SKF's strategic commitment in the aeronautical industry. In an engine, bearings prevent rubbing between rotating and static components and, as such, wear. It is a key component in performance and SKF is proud of this new sign of confidence shown by Turbomeca”.

The Arrano, a new 1,100 shp engine has been designed to equip four to six ton helicopters. Its first test run is expected in 2014.
