United Aircraft Corporation and Boeing extend cooperation
Monday, 9 June 2008

Today, in the course of the XII Petersburg International Economic Forum, JSC "UAC" and the Boeing Corporation signed an Agreement to broaden cooperation in the area of civil aviation. Now mutual work will include "Lean" Education and Training Programs that should be carried out at a number of UAC subsidiary companies. The programs aim to increase work efficiency and establish an effective production philosophy.

During the last year Boeing specialists held an entire series of workshops for top and middle managers of the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company. The seminars were devoted to productivity improvement and supplier chain efficiency issues. Five seminars, held in Moscow and Komsomolsk-On-Amur were highly estimated by their participants.

"We paid close attention to these workshops, and came to the conclusion that we would benefit from expanding the program to other UAC's aviation. This became the basis of our Agreement. Currently these methods are being successfully applied in Novosibirsk, and we plan to start this work in Voronezh as well", - said Alexey Fedorov, UAC President and Chairman of Executive Board.

The signed Agreement also confirms the main principles of further cooperation development and indicates further actions in the framework of the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed last year. The Boeing Company has already fulfilled all agreements with SCAC on expanding consultations within the framework of the SSJ 100 program. Boeing specialists together with their Russian colleagues worked out recommendations on project management, engineering, design, marketing certification, supplier chain management and customer support for the SSJ 100 program.

In addition, the certification process of the JSC "Komsomolsk-on Amur Aircraft Production Association named after Yu.Gagarin" is almost finished. The Boeing Company Expert Council has finished assessment of the KnAAPO's quality control system and confirmed its compliance with the requirements of the Boeing Corporation quality control system. Recently, KnAAPO has received the status of a Certified Supplier of The Boeing Corporation.
