Barco subsidiary Barco Texen, a leading provider of consoles and subsystems for military and avionics embedded systems, is proud to announce that it has achieved EN/AS 9100 certification. Meeting the EN9100/AS9100 quality standards for defense and aerospace industries will help Barco expand its market to include leading aerospace businesses. This certification fits into the strategic repositioning of Barco Texen, situated nearby Europe's biggest aerospace hub, towards a center of excellence in avionics design.
Perhaps no other industry is as safety-conscious as the aerospace sector. In an environment where the failure of products or services can be fatal, a quality management system is key to reduce risks. The world's leading aerospace companies therefore strongly adhere to the EN/AS 9100 standards and demand the same from their suppliers. “Quality management is a fundamental driving force at Barco Texen,” says Hervé Lerat, Quality Manager. “To highlight that commitment and expand our business to include aerospace companies, we decided, at the start of 2012, to run for AS/EN certification. A series of strict independent audits have now proven that our products and procedures all meet the high quality standards.”
Market expansion Barco Texen is one of a few sites working for the defense industry, which is certified in accordance with the Defense and Aerospace standard. “This certification can make the difference between winning new contracts, or being excluded,” explains Olivier Serafin, General Manager. “At the same time, it stimulates us to continually improve our quality processes and enhance the quality of our products in the long term. We are therefore very excited about this accreditation and look forward to becoming an even more significant player in the aerospace business.”
