Doncasters launches Fastener Systems capability
Tuesday, 15 July 2008

Doncasters Group Ltd., a leading global manufacturer of precision components and assemblies for the aerospace industry, is proud to announce an extended offer for OEMs with the expansion of its Fastener Systems Division to serve the aerospace market.

Doncasters Fasteners Systems Division is headed by Ken Caratelli and consists of Nelson Stud in Elyria, OH, Ferry Cap & Set Screw in Lakewood, OH, and Progressive Stamping in Royal Oak, MI, all of which joined the group as a result of the FastenTech acquisition in 2007.

All three sites have developed a reputation as industry leaders in their fields, manufacturing a range of safety-critical fasteners and application equipment for the construction, industrial and transportation markets.  By combining the skill, knowledge and state-of-the-art equipment in use at the fastener systems sites with the group's long-standing expertise in the aerospace sector, Doncasters can now add a wide range of fasteners, such as nut plates, anchor plates, gang channels, washers, bolts, pins, rivets, brackets, nuts, flange nuts, screws, studs and clips, to its list of manufactured parts for the aerospace industry.

Commenting on the extended product range, Eric J. Lewis, Chief Executive Officer of Doncasters, said:  "Our customers and prospects are looking for suppliers that can provide a very wide range of products and processes. By expanding our Fastener Systems offering to the aerospace market, we will be able to continue to provide high quality parts to our clients while working to become a true supply-chain integrator, helping OEMs streamline processes and minimise time spent dealing with multiple suppliers.

"Doncasters Fastener Systems sites are more than able to meet the demands of the aerospace industry and we are currently in talks with a number of aerospace OEMs to develop our product range and obtain all relevant certifications."

The range of equipment and manufacturing processes employed across the division ensures that productivity is optimised while providing superior performance and quality.

And with its commitment to quality and innovation, from the initial product design phase through to manufacturing, packaging, distribution and aftermarket services, the division can supply high strength, performance critical fasteners that can withstand the harsh rigours of demanding operating environments.

Eric concluded: "For many years, Doncasters has been a leader in the aerospace industry.  I'm delighted to be able to extend the Group's services to the aerospace industry by introducing our Fastener Systems capability and am confident that the division will prove to be a real success, staying true to our high standards of quality, service, on-time delivery and price."

Collectively, the division offers a range of services, including metal stamping, welding, heat treat, painting, thread patches, bonding, de-burring and drying, broaching, thread rolling, drilling, cold heading, CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining, centerless grinding,  fillet roll, head forging, collar forming, quality validation, mechanical and metallurgical testing, fatigue testing, acid etching, optical inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT). Each site is certified to industry quality assurance standards and the division has the capability to manufacture product using a range of raw materials including low carbon steel, high carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminum, A286, alloy steel, and nickel alloys.
