Brüel & Kjær introduces new high-temperature accelerometer
Friday, 12 September 2008

Brüel & Kjær, the world leading manufacturer and supplier of sound and vibration solutions, is proud to announce the introduction of Type 4526 which is a new ThetaShear®, DeltaTron® accelerometer for applications up to 180°C – the highest temperature in the industry!

During design, every aspect of the transducer was considered for the high-temperature range, including material selection, insulating components, glues, and soldering. Electronic components were cautiously chosen and tested. The preamplifier ASIC was specifically designed for stability, especially of bias and noise.

During the pilot production phase, R&D engineers closely followed all processes. Artificial aging and demanding burn-in at 180°C secured the long-term stability. Furthermore, as part of the qualification process, the units were continuously tested at 180°C for more than 3000 hours, revealing a very stable bias voltage and no degradation in performance.

Type 4526 comes in two versions, Type 4526 and 4526-001 which are the best candidates for vibration measurements under continuous, high-temperature operation on, for example gas-turbine auxiliary equipment, power train, engine and exhaust and environmental stress screening.

Type 4526 with 100 mV/g and Type 4526-001 with 10 mV/g can be mounted using a stud or adhesive. They can be used directly up to 8 kHz or 12.8 kHz with REq-X.
