PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Icon Aerospace Technology (was Icon Polymer Group)
The design and engineering expertise of Icon Polymer Group, a technology company in engineered polymer products, will see it supply a range of aerodynamic seals to Spirit AeroSystems for its work on the new Mitsubishi Regional Jet.
The new contract further demonstrates Icon Polymer Group's rapid growth within the global aerospace sector, with the company's innovative technology well placed to meet the stringent demands required from the next generation of passenger aircraft.
Icon Polymer Group's relationship with Spirit AeroSystems continues to go from strength to strength. The new contract follows a series of significant orders from Spirit, including a contract to supply fire seals to the CS100 and CS300 aircraft models within the Bombardier C-Series commercial jet line-up.
Icon Polymer Group's aerodynamic seals will now be used in the Mitsubishi Regional Jet's pylons, being provided by Spirit AeroSystems. Each jet will seat between 70 and 90 passengers.
Tom Ludwell, Head of Sales at Icon Polymer Group, comments: “A collaborative approach with customers is absolutely key. Here at Icon, we engage with our customers from the very beginning, from the first design specification to the finished solution. Our experience, knowledge and questioning of the brief enabled us to truly understand the requirements for this project. This allowed us to bid in a competitive manner, and build a programme that meets the needs of both Mitsubishi and Spirit in terms of quality, delivery and service.
“We are delighted to be working with Spirit AeroSystems on another innovative aerospace programme and all at Icon are excited as we support them through the growing aircraft build programme.”
Icon Polymer Group is a leader in the design, manufacture and qualification of highly engineered polymer products using the latest technology, materials and production processes. The company's innovative technology is used in high-performance applications in aerospace, rail, off-highway and energy generation.
