COM DEV International Ltd. today announced that its aerospace product line known as AVSAT has reached several important milestones and is actively pursuing opportunities in the rapidly evolving aviation technology market.
COM DEV, while best known as a world leading manufacturer of space hardware, has also built a successful business providing equipment that enables aircraft to communicate securely with satellites. AVSAT products play a vital role in keeping aircraft safety and navigation systems connected with control towers and other ground infrastructure via global satellite networks, regardless of where the aircraft is located.
COM DEV's AVSAT team has built a reputation for quality, performance, and delivery, as demonstrated by the following accomplishments:
• recently shipped its 10,000th Diplexer Low Noise Amplifier
• achieved 100% on-time delivery for the past 10 years
• attained more than 75% market share of the diplexers/LNAs used within the Inmarsat Lband satcom market worldwide
"We are proud to be able to apply our RF expertise to a technology that helps people feel safe when travelling by air," said Mike Williams, president of COM DEV's products division. "AVSAT is a multi-million dollar business that has been growing at approximately 6% annually and we are confident in the new opportunities that will enable us to double its size within the next five years."
COM DEV is targeting its AVSAT growth efforts on "Connected Aircraft," focusing on new products to support Future Air Navigation Systems (FANS) and higher data rates, as well as accessing new markets previously unserved by satellite communications. The Company is partnering with select communications equipment suppliers in order to participate in next generation systems for both cockpit and cabin services.
