PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Electro-Mech Components
Electro-Mech's new SW45090 daylight readable switch has been co-designed and approved by Aero Safety Systems for cockpit installation in general aviation aircraft.
The DPDT illuminated switch includes several design enhancements to provide Daylight Readable LED lighting to meet general aviation requirements:
- Custom PCB with Ultra-high brightness surface mount LEDs
- Clearly readable in 10,000 foot candles (full sunlight)
- Red, Amber, Green LED Colors conforming to AS25050
- White LED option
- Dead face in ambient light
- High efficiency low temperature and long life
- Triple redundant indication per legend
- High contrast, crisp, multi-layer silk screen printed text
- Custom legends available
- PWM compatible, 12 and 24v DC configuration options
- Momentary snap feel switch function
- 2.0A resistive load at 28VDC input
Developed from the EMC Series 600 family, this lightweight switch weighs less than 1.2 oz. [34g], mounts into a 0.875" [22.3mm] square mounting hole, and requires approx. 2.40" [61.0mm] of space behind the panel. Interconnection to circuitry or wiring is provided by standard solder lug terminals which accept 20awg wire, or the unit can be provided with PCB pin terminals.
The SW45090 switch is rated at 2.0A resistive at 28 VDC. Other features provided by the SW45090 include Momentary Snap Feel switch mechanism, operating pressure of 32 oz. (+ 8 oz.), plunger travel of approximately 0.25" [6.4mm], and a rated switch life of 100,000 minimum actuations.
Aero Safety Systems have optimized the LED circuitry and optics to provide clear Full Daylight readability whilst also achieving a dead face when not illuminated. Through high quality multi-layer silk screen printing on carefully selected diffusers, filters and hard coat anti-glare coatings; high contrast levels and a crisp legend are achieved. Careful attention to thermal management with high quality LEDs ensures long life. As a further safeguard each legend is triple redundant. Each legend of the SW45090 can be directly driven with PWM constant current at 50mA. The circuit is also fitted with a current limiting resistor as standard available for either a 12 or 24 volts DC system.
