AXTER Aerospace won the national award for business innovation (Microenterprises and start-ups), making them a finalist for the International Quality Innovation Award. AXTER Aerospace, which is partially owned by CT Ingenieros, has developed a hybrid propulsion system for airplanes that increases capacity by 40 HP (horsepower) and improves flight safety.
In addition, it entails a flight mode using 100% electric power in case of combustion engine failure. The system is rechargeable in-flight.
AXTER Aerospace has won the Quality Innovation Award 2017 in the business innovation category (Micro-enterprises & Start-ups). AXTER Aerospace, founded in 2011 by engineers Miguel Suarez and Daniel Cristobal, has developed a hybrid propulsion system for aviation, creating the first prototype hybrid system designed to prevent accidents caused by engine failure. CT entered the capital of AXTER Aerospace in 2013.
This aviation propulsion technology improves aviation safety by providing 20 minutes of extra flight time in the event of engine failure, increasing power by 40 HP, reducing aircraft maintenance and operating costs, and reducing CO2 emissions and noise pollution. The aim is to prevent accidents caused by engine failure while an aircraft is in flight. "The system has extra take-off performance and is able to operate relying solely on its electrical power source in the event of engine failure," explain Miguel Suarez and Daniel Cristobal, the founding partners of AXTER Aerospace.
Members of a judging panel, along with the input of the evaluation team and the expert opinions of the ANECA (National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation), decided that the project had an "outstanding score in the five items evaluated in this process: innovation, utility, learning, client orientation and effectiveness". The awards, organised by the Association for Promoting Excellence, were presented today at the CaixaForum Auditorium in Madrid. This award puts AXTER Aerospace in contention for the International Quality Innovation Awards, which will be held in February 2018.
