Mahindra Aerospace has chosen Hartzell Propeller's three-blade 84-inch diameter aluminum propeller for its Airvan 10 single engine turbine-powered 10-seat utility aircraft, certified earlier this year.
Hartzell's lightweight hub turbine propeller is constant speed, feathering, reversing and optimized for an improved climb rate.
"Mahindra's selection of a Hartzell prop for its flagship airplane is the most recent example of an aircraft manufacturer selecting the most reliable and highest performing propeller available today for their newest model," said Hartzell Propeller Executive Vice President JJ Frigge. "We are very pleased to continue the relationship on the Airvan series, which began in the 1980s, and continues today following Mahindra's acquisition of the program in 2009."
Developed as a new FAR Part 23 certified aircraft, the Airvan 10 retains the piston-powered Airvan 8's aerodynamic design and shares many of its production parts. More than 240 Airvan 8 aircraft are in operation throughout the world, pulled through the air by props from Hartzell Propeller.
Celebrating its 100th year, Hartzell Propeller is the global leader in advanced technology aircraft propeller design and manufacturing for business, commercial and government customers. The company designs next generation propellers with innovative "blended airfoil" technology and manufactures them with revolutionary machining centers, robotics and custom resin transfer molding curing stations.
