Ducommun Incorporated announces $50 million contract for ailerons and spoilers on Embraer's new Legacy 450/500 series business jets
Saturday, 28 February 2009

Ducommun Incorporated (NYSE: DCO) today announced that its Ducommun AeroStructures, Inc. (DAS) subsidiary has been awarded a design and build contract for the ailerons and spoilers on Embraer's recently announced Legacy 450 and 500 series of business jets. The Legacy 450 is a 2,300 nautical mile, light mid-size aircraft, while the larger Legacy 500 is a 3,000 nautical mile mid-size aircraft. Embraer is the third largest OEM aircraft manufacturer in the world, famous for its family of regional jets such as the ERJ 145 and its family of E-Jets such as the Embraer 170/190 family. Embraer has delivered more than 1,600 commercial jets to airlines globally since 1995. DAS's contract is valued in excess of $50 million.

Ducommun will develop these critical flight control parts from concept through certification, preliminary engineering, and detailed designs, drawings and specifications jointly with Embraer. Critical to the success of the program, is the requirement for the Ducommun-led engineering team to work in close collaboration with Embraer's engineering offices located in San Jose dos Campos, Brazil.

Joseph C. Berenato, chairman and chief executive officer of Ducommun, stated, "The Legacy 450/500 program is an example of Ducommun's strategic initiative to provide greater value to our customers by providing complete design and build aerostructures solutions. This contract is our first directly with Embraer and we look forward to continuing to broaden our scope of work with Embraer."
