Sanmina-SCI Corporation (Nasdaq NM: SANM), a leading global Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) company, today announced that its Newark, California facility has been awarded the AS9100 Aerospace Standard certification. This certification signifies that its precision machining facility in Newark complies with all requirements of the AS9100 quality management system. The AS9100 is the aerospace industry's quality system standard developed by the International Aerospace Quality Group for quality assurance in design, New Product Introduction (NPI), manufacturing and servicing.
"Earning the AS9100 certification represents a significant accomplishment for the Newark facility as it reinforces Sanmina-SCI's commitment to meeting the highest standards of quality required by its defense and aerospace customers," said Frank Moreman, Vice President and General Manager of Sanmina-SCI's Precision Machining and Assembly Division. "An effective quality management system is a reflection of our commitment to continuous improvement and in strengthening our position in this market sector."

AS9100 standard is a set of requirements for quality management systems that includes all of the elements of ISO 9001:2000 and expanded to address international aerospace requirements that are now approved by major aerospace companies around the world. The intent of the AS9100 is to deliver significant improvements in quality, while reducing cost throughout the supply chain in the aerospace industry.
