Universal Avionics announces WAAS-enabled flight management systems
Wednesday, 28 March 2007

Universal Avionics Systems Corporation (UASC) today introduced a new product line of WAAS enabled Flight Management Systems.  The Universal Avionics new generation flight management systems known as the UNS-1Lw, UNS-1Ew, UNS-1Espw, and UNS-1Fw will be used on Business/Regional Jets around the world and are designed and ready for operational approval for Oceanic, Enroute, Departure and Arrival procedures, Non-Precision Approaches, LNAV/VNAV Approaches and LPV (Lateral Precision with Vertical) Approaches.  WAAS approaches can be flown down to minimums of 200-feet and 1/2-mile for FAA published LPV approaches.

"Universal Avionics' new line of WAAS FMS systems meet FAA DO229C and DO178B Level B requirements without requiring add-on sensors, making them ideal for application in both the forward fit and retrofit markets " said Paul DeHerrera, Vice President of Marketing and Product Support at Universal Avionics.

The new FMS receiver features extensive anti-jamming capabilities in the RF hardware and incorporates all-in-view tracking of up to 12 satellites with a loss of lock re-acquisition time of less than 3-seconds.  It also meets the Continuous Wave Interference (CWI) specification from RTCA DO-208 and DO-229 (WAAS, MOPS).  FAA certification is expected 4th-quarter 2007.

Universal Avionics manufactures/markets the UNS-1 WAAS Flight Management Systems; the EFI-890R Flat Panel Display; a line of Flat Panel Integrated Cockpit Displays; Vision-1 Synthetic Vision System; TAWS Terrain Awareness and Warning System; the ASU chart, E-Docs, checklist display system; Cockpit Voice Recorder; Radio Control Unit; and a host of other advanced avionics equipment.
