Tyco Electronics introduces high-temperature highly flexible wire
Tuesday, 15 September 2009

With a rating of 260°C for 10,000 hours, the new SHF-260 highly flexible wire allows the cable to be bent and routed in extremely tight areas, situations in which the insulation of conventional wire often wrinkles or cracks. Targeted for commercial and military aerospace, ground, and marine applications such as engines or generators, SHF-260 wire can be used for primary and secondary power distribution where high currents are needed.

The wire's tough extruded fluoropolymer insulation allows a bend radius as tight as 6x, while offering resistance to fluids, chemicals, and corona discharges. The high flexibility permits new routing possibilities that can shorten cable runs, eliminate the need to split power over several wires, and reduce stresses on connectors.

Available in conductor sizes from 4/0 to 12 AWG, the wires meet FAR Part 25 flammability requirements and provide arc track resistance to SAE-AS-22759.
