L3 Commercial Aviation has launched SRVIVR25, its next generation of cockpit voice and data recorders. This groundbreaking line of crash-protected recorders provides at least 25 hours of cockpit voice recording while providing a minimum of 50 hours of flight data recording – the longest duration of voice and flight data ever available for operators and regulatory agencies to analyze. Cockpit voice recorders or 'black boxes' are among the most valuable tools used in understanding real-time pilot situational awareness, workload and reactions in adverse conditions. The new SRVIVR25 models are the most technologically advanced solutions to be added to L3's growing family of voice and flight data recorder products.

"The SRVIVR25 has set the new standard for flight data recording," said Eric Jenkins, Vice President and General Manager of Commercial Markets at Aviation Products within L3 Commercial Aviation. "Besides offering the longest recording capability of any cockpit recorder available today, this line of products offers variants that will enable future cockpit video recording and real-time data streaming."

L3's SRVIVR25 product line includes five models and variations based on functionality, aircraft wiring types and mounting options. These variations include Cockpit Voice Recorders (CVR), Cockpit Voice and Data Recorders (CVDR) and Flight Data Recorder (FDR) units. All of the models meet, or exceed, the requirements for the 2021 European Aviation Safety Agency's (EASA) mandate following the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) published safety standards to extend the voice recording duration to 25 hours from the current standard of two hours. Additionally, the audio recording system provides a higher-fidelity recording by using a more advanced digital microphone and technology designed to minimize vibration and signal obstruction.

Additionally, SRVIVR25's new state-of-the-art design reduces operating costs through weight savings and uses a new, more environmentally friendly 90-day Underwater Locator Beacon (ULB). The new ULB no longer carries the Class 9 Hazardous Material Classification, thereby eliminating the need for special handling and transportation needs, and is fully compliant with the special conditions concerning the use of non-rechargeable lithium batteries on aircraft.

The SRVIVR25 line is a direct replacement solution for L3's FA2100, as well as other ARINC 747 and 757 recorders. It offers airlines flexibility for both new and existing aircraft to meet the upcoming 2021 EASA mandates, as well as other anticipated mandates projected globally.
