Element Antwerp achieves Nadcap accreditation for chemical analysis
Monday, 7 June 2021

Element Materials Technology (Element) has received Nadcap accreditation for chemical analysis at its Antwerp, Belgium laboratory.

The scope of the accreditation includes chemical analysis of metals for the aerospace supply chain, with a focus on material qualification and powder characterization for additive manufacturing.

The team in Antwerp will employ optical emission spectroscopy (OES); atomic emission spectroscopy – inductively coupled plasma (ICP–OES/AES); and elemental analysis by means of fusion and combustion to determine a wide range of elements.

With a greater number of end customers requiring Nadcap-approved testing, the Antwerp laboratory's accreditation, combined with its full range of powder characterisation services, makes it an efficient and reliable supplier for meeting the technical demands of the industry.

Matt Hopkinson, EVP at Element, said: "As the aerospace sector increasingly adopts additive manufacturing, compliance with Nadcap requirements is becoming more important throughout the supply chain. Antwerp's Nadcap accreditation ensures our results and procedures comply fully with aerospace industry standards.

"Element's capabilities are continually evolving as we monitor the developments of standards and technology in order to maintain an industry-leading portfolio of additive manufacturing testing services for our customers."

Element Antwerp is a BELAC (NBN-EN-ISO/IEC17025) and Nadcap-accredited metallics laboratory offering a complete range of materials testing and research services, including metallography, weld testing services, corrosion testing services, chemical analysis services, and failure analysis services.
