RUAG Aerostructures in Hungary becomes an independent manufacturing company for aircraft parts according to EASA Part 21G
Tuesday, 8 December 2020

The production site of RUAG Aerostructures in Hungary was approved as an independent production organisation by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in early December. The EASA Part 21G certificate enables the company to supply assemblies and structural parts directly to customers or to integrate them into aircraft.

Since 2017, the production site in Eger (HU) with more than 200 employees has been an integral part of RUAG Aerostructures' capacity and action plan. With the certification according to EASA Part 21G, the site reached an important milestone at the beginning of December. The EASA Part 21G certificate entitles RUAG Aerostructures Hungary with immediate effect to manufacture complex assemblies and integrate them directly into aircraft or deliver them to customers. Until now, the structural parts from Eger have been delivered to customers via the Oberpfaffenhofen site. Today, side shells, floor structures, pressure bulkheads or seat rails for Airbus are manufactured in Eger.

"The EASA Part 21G certification of our site in Hungary not only underlines our long-term partnership with Airbus, but also enables direct supply relationships with new customers. We are thus emphasising the existential importance of the Eger site for our competitiveness," says Dirk Prehn, Executive Vice President of RUAG Aerostructures.

Highest level of certification for aeronautical manufacturing operations

RUAG Aerostructures in Hungary is only the second company in the whole country to receive this certificate. The certification as "EASA Part 21G Organisation" is the highest approval that a manufacturing organisation for aeronautical products can receive. EASA is the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), which is responsible for the safety of civil aviation. It is responsible for certification, regulation and standardisation.

Continuous development

Along a detailed development plan, the Eger site has been continuously developed - from the extended workbench to the certified manufacturing plant according to EASA Part21G. As early as 2019, the company received the EN 9100 certification from TUV Nord, which is tailored to aviation companies and a prerequisite for EASA 21G approval.
