TARSIS carried out a series of tests in segregated airspace
Friday, 23 October 2020

TARSIS 75, the light, tactical, high performance unmanned aerial vehicle designed and manufactured by AERTEC Solutions has carried out a series of tests in segregated airspace and NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) by ENAIRE in coordination with the Ministry of Defence (MOD). This is the first time TARSIS 75 operates in civil facilities, such as the ATLAS Experimental Flight Centre in Villacarrillo, Jaen.

This series of tests included flights beyond the visual line of sight (BVLOS) and other more complex operations such as flight ceiling, transponder signal tracking and satellite communications. The manoeuvres were performed in a larger than usual airspace. It was authorised by the Spanish Air Force. These are unusual circumstances considering that ATLAS is a civil facility. To obtain the pertinent flight authorisations for TARSIS 75, it was necessary to coordinate between ENAIRE, the organism managing airspace, the Air Force, responsible for authorising operations in military airspace, and the ATLAS centre.

These operations have served to carry out checks both on signals emitted to air traffic control by the transponder integrated into the TARSIS 75, as well as the functioning of communications via satellite in the event of loss of radio communication.

The TARSIS75 RPAS by AERTEC Solutions has obtained the Experimental Airworthiness Certificate from both AESA (civil) and INTA (MOD) which makes it possible to manage flight authorisations through the approval of the corresponding Viability and Safety Studies.

The TARSIS 75 unmanned aerial vehicle, together with the TARSIS 25 version, is one of the most innovative projects by AERTEC Solutions. This international technological company is specialised in aeronautics and defence. AERTEC Solutions developed the entire life cycle of these carbon fibre RPAS, from design to creation to assembly.
