Innovate to print a new future...
Monday, 1 June 2020

Poly-Shape, signed a contract with Constellium SE for the development and production of innovative components based on the new Constellium powders. Aheadd is a new offer for high performance aluminium pow- ders that exceed industry standards for additive manufactu- ring productivity and component properties. With 100 years of expertise in metallurgy and alloy development, Constellium SE is well positioned to serve its customers with unique expertise in aluminium alloy development for their additive manufactu- ring applications.

Poly-Shape, an AddUp company, develops innovative value added process for years, thanks to its in house R&D departement, and participates in numerous multinational industrial innovation projects. The department is working on emerging processes to validate new materials and new design methods. The R&D team also participates in the improvement of the manufacturing parameters for existing machines and is involved in the definition and tests of future machines. Thanks to a significant expertise acquired in various markets such as aeronautical, motor-sport and energy, Poly-Shape is known as one of the European leader of the metal additive manufacturing... and was logically chosen to carry out this world premiere, which heralds the arrival of a new material full of promise for modern industry.

This French industrial group recognized by its peers has taken up the challenge of exclusively producing metal parts in additive manufacturing with this new powder still unknown on the market, created by Constellium SE. "This is the result of the flexibility of our structures, our reactivity and the high quality of our teams, in particular the Research and development sector. From the beginning, Our strong culture of R&D places innovation at the center of the company, to meet the expectations of the demanding high-tech industries in which we operate." added Stephane Abed, CEO of Poly-Shape.

Independently of a small staff required to respect and work under sanitary conditions in accordance with government recommendations, Poly-Shape’s experts have recently successfully 3D printed a plate of functional hydraulic blocks with this new high temperature high performance aluminium alloy created by Constellium. Amazing metal parts with an optimized and complex design with high precision aesthetics. A masterpiece of modern industry was born from this collabo- ration between two innovative companies that give confidence in the future.

In addition, this new collaboration is fully integrated into the overall Addup R&D policy (joint-venture between Michelin and Fives, 2 big french firms) whom Poly-Shape is a subsidiary since 2018. The performance of additive manufacturing machines and their productivity is strongly linked to the behaviour of materials when printing and their choice and the development of associated recipes is a fundamental key to success in the field of 3D metal printing. Poly-Shape is a subsidiary of AddUp group, which offers PBF and DED metal machines.
