Three-dimensional measurement specialist Phase Vision has reported overwhelming levels of interest at the launch of its new Quartz white light scanners from the MACH 2010 show held at Birmingham's NEC during June.

The new family of scanners delivers fast, accurate dimensional metrology for larger free-form objects, with breakthrough usability and ruggedness. Requiring only power and an Ethernet connection, they are portable, simple to set up, require only minimal operator training and can be used almost anywhere.

Phase Vision CEO Ralph Weir explained: "We were inundated with interest from designers and engineers from all of our target sectors, especially automotive and aerospace, who were intrigued by the possibilities achievable in terms of speed and accuracy through the new system.

"There were also several enquiries from manufacturers seeking to reverse engineer components from older models, while we even had instances of show visitors bringing objects on to the stand to see how the scanner would cope with measuring them.

"In each case they were delighted with the results we were able to offer – especially when one remembers that we did not have access to the laboratory conditions which some scanners need to operate effectively."
