New products for composite application
Monday, 28 June 2010

New additions to AkzoNobel Aerospace Coating's Aerowave waterborne structural coatings range help customers reduce coating process times on composites.

Aerowave 2501 Porefiller fills pinholes and surface imperfections in composite surfaces. It is easily applied by cloth or spatula and can soon be processed thanks to very fast drying times.

For larger imperfections, Aerowave 2500 Stopper is an easy-to-mix, two component, putty-like filler applied with a caulking gun. Aerowave 2500 Stopper is virtually solvent free and does not shrink, unlike some epoxy coatings currently in industry use. It can also be used to fill dents in other surfaces.

Both products can be overcoated with Aerowave 2002 chrome free inhibiting primer.

In recent trials at a major European OEM subcontractor, Aerowave next generation products reduced process time from 15 hours to around 4 hours. As both Aerowave 2500 Stopper and Aerowave 2501 Porefiller are virtually solvent free, and Aerowave 2002 has a VOC level of only 250g/l, users can greatly reduce their solvent usage, comply with local solvent emission regulations and also meet sustainability commitments.

All Aerowave products are fully REACH compliant.
