TAI's UAV "ANKA" rolled out

Turkey's Center of Aerospace, Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc.(TAI) introduced its first operative-class unmanned aerial vehicle named ANKA on Friday, 16 July 2010.

During the roll out ceremony held at TAI's facilities in Ankara, TAI's President & CEO Mr. Muharrem Dörtka?lı stated that "TAI has been dealing with unmanned aerial vehicle technologies since the beginning of 1990's. With a 17 m wingspan, 1,600 kg take-off weight and 24 hrs endurance capability and state-of-the-art systems, ANKA will be among the top players in UAV market". TAI's Chairman of the Board of Directors Lt. Gen. (R) M. Yalçın Kaya added that "ANKA completely designed and manufactured by Turkish engineers, with the recent achievements, now TAI is the center of excellence in Turkey for operative UAV programs". Turkish Minister of Defense HE Vecdi Gönül underlined as "Turkey has a strong defense and aerospace infrastructure for design and manufacturing of platforms as well as systems integration".

During Farnborough Air Show, on 20th of July, Tuesday, TAI will also hold a media briefing in the Cody Room to introduce its operative class UAV which was rolled out on 16th July 2010. During the conference which is scheduled to start at 13.00 hours the company's UAV capabilities and the achievements will also be explained.
