PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Radia, Inc.
Today, Radia is pleased to announce that Italian aerospace company MA Group Magnaghi Aerospace will be developing the landing system for the WindRunner aircraft. Magnaghi joins a growing list of suppliers that will develop various on-board systems for WindRunner, including Leonardo in Italy who will develop the fuselage.
For over 85 years, Magnaghi has been a leading provider of landing gear systems internationally. They have provided the aerospace industry with over 20,000 systems on more than 7,000 aircraft and will bring their expertise in development, qualification, production, and maintenance to support the development of the landing system for WindRunner.
“This partnership builds on Magnaghi’s technological growth over the past 20 years and our significant historical heritage dating back to 1936,” said Giorgio Iannotti, MA Group Magnaghi Aerospace’s Landing & Actuation Systems Division CEO. “We will continue to demonstrate the ingenuity, flexibility, and agility of Magnaghi and participate in the energy market with our innovations through this partnership with Radia.”
“Magnaghi is a world-class supplier, and we are thrilled to welcome them to our WindRunner team,” said Mark Lundstrom, Radia founder and CEO. “Magnaghi shares our entrepreneurial vision and will be instrumental in the success of WindRunner. This partnership strengthens Radia ties to the Italian aerospace community, and we look forward to contributing to further develop the industry in Italy.”
WindRunner is the world’s largest aircraft being developed to transport offshore sized wind turbine blades to develop high-capacity onshore wind farms. These high-capacity onshore wind farms are called “GigaWind” – a segment that Radia is also working to develop.
