Embraer will exhibit the Legacy 650 executive jet, for the first time, at the seventh Latin American Business Conference and Exhibition (LABACE), August 12-14. The event takes place at the Congonhas Airport (CGH), in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, and marks the debut of the Legacy 650, which will be officially presented to visitors on opening day, August 12, at 1 p.m.
On August 11, Wednesday, 4 p.m., Embraer will host a press conference at the Quality Congonhas Hotel, in Sao Paulo, to present an update on its executive jet programs.
"We are very satisfied with the Legacy 650 debuting at such an important business aviation event as LABACE. Certification of the Legacy 650 is approaching, and the aircraft will meet all its design targets," said Luis Carlos Affonso, Embraer Executive Vice President, Executive Jets.
The Legacy 650 was launched in October 2009, at the 62nd Annual Meeting and Convention of the U.S. National Business Aviation Association (NBAA), in Orlando, Florida, and is on the final development phase. It will be exhibited in LABACE, together with the entry level Phenom 100 and the light Phenom 300, and attendees will have the opportunity to visit the comfortable interior of these best-in-class jets.
Based on the successful Legacy 600 platform, the Legacy 650 is Embraer's offer to the large jet segment. It flies up to 3,900 nautical miles (7,223 km) nonstop with four passengers. The 500-nautical-mile (926-km) increase in range was accomplished through extensive airframe modifications, such as reinforced wing and landing gears, aft ventral tank, new central wet wing box, and highly efficient and more powerful Rolls-Royce AE 3007A2 engines.
The new Honeywell Primus EliteTM avionics suite equips the Legacy 650, providing advanced navigation, communications and graphical display capabilities. The jet has the same comfortable and functional cabin of the Legacy 600, with three distinct cabin zones, a spacious wet galley and the largest executive jet in-flight accessible baggage compartment. The Legacy 650 also features new state-of-the-art insulation materials for improved noise comfort and the Inmarsat's SwiftBroadband system for high-speed Internet in-flight.
The Legacy 650 program is on schedule, and has already achieved important milestones. Engineering activities related to structural modifications, engines, fuel system and performance are almost completed, indicating that every design target will be met. The integration of the new Honeywell Primus Elite(tm) avionics is also moving quickly, and progressing according to plan. The Legacy 650 is scheduled to enter service during the second semester of this year.
