PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: BeyondMath
BeyondMath, a world-leading provider of AI-driven simulation and design optimization solutions, has been selected to partner with Honeywell on a groundbreaking Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) project funded by Innovate UK. The consortium, led by Honeywell, aims to revolutionize UK aerospace manufacturing through the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and additive manufacturing.
Project STRATA will focus on developing five innovative components within aircraft Environmental Control Systems (ECS) and Cabin Pressure Control Systems (CPCS). These complex systems are critical for managing the cabin environment and ensuring passenger safety and comfort. BeyondMath’s expertise in AI-powered physics simulations will play a key role in optimizing the designs of these components for additive manufacturing.
“We are thrilled to be part of this prestigious consortium and to contribute our AI-driven simulation capabilities to Project STRATA,” said Alan Patterson, CEO of BeyondMath. “This project represents a significant opportunity to demonstrate the power of AI in accelerating innovation and improving the performance of critical aerospace systems. Our experience in high-performance industries, including Formula 1, has prepared us to tackle the complex challenges involved in optimizing designs for additive manufacturing in the demanding aerospace environment.”
BeyondMath’s Generative Physics platform leads the world in real-time industrial scale engineering, with the ability to run 500M+ cell 3D transient simulations 1000x faster than traditional tools. The platform empowers engineers to explore a wider range of design options, reduce development time and costs, and improve component performance.
By leveraging AI, the consortium will be able to optimize designs specifically tailored for additive manufacturing processes. This will contribute to the project’s overarching goals of improving aircraft efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and emissions, and advancing sustainable aerospace manufacturing.
STRATA will also advance thermal management technology for next-generation aircraft, reducing the energy required for heating and cooling. This aligns with the project’s goal of enabling net-zero aerospace manufacturing and supporting the industry’s broader environmental objectives.
The consortium comprises industry leaders and world-class academic institutions, including:
- 3T Additive Manufacturing: Experts in metal additive manufacturing, implementing a Digital Thread throughout its product lifecycle.
- BeyondMath: Providing AI-driven physics simulations for design optimization.
- Qdot: Providing binder jet heat exchanger technology for compact, high-efficiency components.
- University of Oxford’s Thermofluids Institute: Providing expertise in heat transfer research.
