PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Mecaer America Inc.
Mecaer Aviation Group, a world leader in the design and production of components, systems, and services for the aerospace industry, has inaugurated its new plant dedicated to surface treatments for aerospace components in Laval (Montreal), Canada. This strategic operation consolidates the group's industrial presence in North America and strengthens Italy's role in the international aerospace sector.
This investment represents a fundamental step in the international development plan of the company, headquartered in Borgomanero (Novara), aimed at increasing production capacity and strengthening the level of technological integration of its North American facilities.
The new plant, which covers an area of approximately 5,000 square meters, was created with the aim of internalizing high-value-added production phases—such as plating, painting, HVOF, non-destructive testing, and shot peening—which were previously outsourced to external suppliers. This operation will allow Mecaer to guarantee greater autonomy, certain fixed delivery times, and even higher quality standards, thus strengthening its ability to oversee the entire manufacturing cycle of landing systems for helicopters and business jets, from design to production.
"The completion of the Canadian hub represents a decisive step in our international growth strategy," emphasized Marco Acca, Managing Director of Mecaer Aviation Group. The acquisition of a dedicated surface treatment facility in 2022 to address post-pandemic supply chain challenges now allows us to verticalize the most strategic phases, ensuring continuity, efficiency, and quality. The new, state-of-the-art, sustainable plant allows us to cover a high-value-added production segment, strengthening the group's competitiveness and its ability to meet the needs of major aircraft manufacturers with precise lead times and high standards. This is the result of a constant commitment, which values the skills of our employees and the long-term industrial vision that guides Mecaer."
Thanks to this expansion, made possible in particular by the support of Canada Economic Development, Investissement Québec, and SIMEST, in collaboration with Banca Iccrea, the group's industrial hub in Canada has reached a new milestone, reaching a total area of over 12,000 square meters, constituting a center of excellence capable of covering the entire production cycle: from design to the manufacture of structural components, including finishing treatments and final testing phases. This configuration allows engineering expertise, production capacity, and cutting-edge technologies to be concentrated in a single hub, significantly reducing lead times and optimizing each phase of the process. The result is a more efficient, flexible, and competitive production system, consolidating Mecaer's role as a leading partner for major international aircraft manufacturers, ensuring high standards of quality, reliability, and sustainability.
The opening of the new Canadian plant represents a new important milestone in Mecaer Aviation Group's development plan, confirming its commitment to continued growth in North America, a strategic region for the aeronautics sector.
The group devotes 5% of its annual revenue to research and development. Since 2024, more than 20 new patent applications have been filed, consolidating its commitment to product and process innovation.
