PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: BIKAR Aerospace GmbH
In Korbußen near Gera, construction of the new BIKAR Zone East is progressing ahead of schedule. As early as September, the hall floors were completed, the high-bay warehouse handed over and the first saw and machine components delivered. This brings the start-up of the state-of-the-art processing centre for aluminium and non-ferrous metals significantly closer.
On the 22,000-square-metre site, BIKAR Aerospace GmbH is investing 60 million euros in the project. Soon, the first aluminium semi-finished products for customers in aerospace, mechanical engineering and other industries will be precisely cut using the latest robotic technology.
Key milestones at a glance
The production hall floors have been poured and completed. The high-bay warehouse building is ready for operation and BIKAR teams are currently installing the racking systems, adding 25,000 t of storage capacity and more than doubling the site’s existing capacity along the A4. The first saw components have already arrived, with further machinery arriving continuously.
"With the completion of the floors and the delivery of the machines, the next major project phase is now underway," explains Pascal Bikar, CEO of the BIKAR Metals Group. "The intelligent integration elevates both cutting quality and speed to a whole new level."
High-Tech across 22,000 m²
BIKAR Zone East relies on fully automated production processes, advanced IT integration, and energy-efficient concepts. Pick & Place robots boost flexibility and ensure maximum material availability.
Dr Jan Wolf, Head of Plant Engineering, explains: "The integration of warehousing, cutting and automated processes enables short workflows, consistent quality, and high process stability. At the same time, we are investing in training our own specialists and further developing our team." With this investment, BIKAR Aerospace is creating exciting jobs of the future in a digitalized and automated industrial environment.
Background
