Junkers announces new, and reinvents vintage model
Thursday, 12 May 2022
The A60 will be an ultralight (in the 600 kg class), side-by-side seater with retractable landing gear that can be flown with an open canopy and/or a closed one, with its first flight planned for spring 2023.

During AERO Friedrichshafen, Junkers Flugzeugwerke AG presented a new model - the A60, which will enter production in 2023 alongside the A50. The A60 will be an ultralight (in the 600 kg class), side-by-side seater with retractable landing gear that can be flown with an open canopy and/or a closed one, with its first flight planned for spring 2023. It will be built to the latest standards, powered by a Rotax 912iS, and produced in the new Junkers Flugzeugwerke GmbH, in the Black Forest, Germany.

Additionally, Junkers announced the Ju-52 NG concept, where it aims to use the proven and great basics of the historic Ju-52 but adapting it to the standards of today. For example, it plans to imitate the Ju 52's lightweight design and structure by using modern avionics and the brand-new RED engines (each with 550 hp and average fuel consumption of 77l / engine) ensure the highest possible safety and reliability. In order to ensure the Ju-52 NG can make flights under VFR and IFR conditions, Junkers will implement modern flight and data management systems such as Garmin, autopilot, TCAS I, Class A Terrain Warning, and Satellite Weather Info.

Junkers claims that the Ju-52 NG's most desirable use will be for sightseeing flights all over the world due to the aircraft's 14 passenger seating, each with their own window, and its ability to fly slow and low (even over densely populated areas due to the three engines and their reliability and agility).
