Embraer has signed a series of Memorandums of Understanding with Lithuanian organisations to establish long-term cooperation in aerospace, defence and innovation. Partners include Kaunas University of Technology, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Aktyvus Photonics, J&C Aero, Nordic Aircraft Systems, Brolis Defence, DAT and the Baltic Institute of Advanced Technology.
The MoUs covered maintenance repair and overhaul, engineering and innovation, technological development and supply chain management. The step followed Lithuania’s June 2025 selection of Embraer’s C‑390 multi‑mission aircraft for defence capability and interoperability.
“These partnerships reflect Embraer’s commitment to fostering innovation and strengthening global industrial and defense capabilities through strategic cooperation. Lithuania’s growing aerospace ecosystem and technological expertise make it an ideal environment for Embraer’s long-term vision in Europe,” says Fabio Caparica, vice president of contracts at Embraer Defense & Security.
The C‑390 entered service with the Brazilian Air Force in 2019, the Portuguese Air Force in 2023 and the Hungarian Air Force in 2024. The fleet recorded a 93% mission capability rate and mission completion above 99%. The C‑390 can carry a 26‑ton payload, cruise at up to 470 knots and operate from temporary or unpaved runways. The KC‑390 configuration demonstrated aerial refuelling as tanker and receiver using under‑wing pods.
