Gulfstream Aerospac has introduced the super-midsize Gulfstream G300 as the newest aircraft in its next-generation fleet. The aircraft will succeed the G280 and features the company’s Panoramic Oval Windows and an all-new Harmony Flight Deck equipped with next-generation avionics to improve operational safety and efficiency.
The G300 was unveiled at Gulfstream’s Discover the Difference customer event in Savannah, where president Mark Burns presented a full-scale mock-up and images of the first aircraft in production.
“Fueled by a decade of investment and our future-forward approach, the Gulfstream next-generation fleet offers our customers the most innovative family of aircraft,” says Gulfstream president Mark Burns. “We know how important the super-midsize cabin segment is to our customers, so building on the highly successful G280 program, the G300 will reenergize the category with its heightened technology and safety enhancements, alongside the legendary comfort and styling of a Gulfstream.”
The G300 combines a trans-Atlantic range of 3,600 nautical miles at Mach 0.80 with short-field agility. It has a maximum cruise altitude of 45,000 feet and offers the lowest cabin altitude in its class at 4,800 feet when flying at 41,000 feet. The aircraft provides 100% fresh air, a plasma ionisation purification system and 10 Oval Windows. The cabin, the longest in its class, has two living areas and seats up to 10 passengers.
The Harmony Flight Deck includes six touch screens, Phase-of-Flight intelligence, and a Synthetic Vision-Primary Flight Display that depicts terrain and runways in 3D. Gulfstream’s Predictive Landing Performance System also indicates stopping distance in real time.
The aircraft is powered by high-thrust Honeywell engines and a clean, swept Gulfstream wing for aerodynamic and fuel efficiency. “The G300 program is making great progress and the vision for this aircraft is well on its way to becoming a reality for our customers as they look for an airplane that will exceed their expectations in the super-midsize class,” adds Burns.
Gulfstream has conducted nearly 22,000 hours of testing at its Integration Test Facility, including a first flight, alongside 2,000 ground hours on the first aircraft. Two further test aircraft are also in production.
