Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has expanded its Oxmoor Valley campus in Birmingham, Alabama, with the addition of a 40,000-square-foot facility for office and electro-mechanical systems integration, bringing the site’s total footprint to approximately 150,000 square feet.
The build-out reflects increased demand across Kratos’ defence and national security programmes and highlights the company's ongoing investment in Alabama’s skilled workforce and advanced manufacturing capabilities.
Senior vice president of Kratos SRE Michael Johns says: “We are excited to continue our rapid expansion in the Birmingham area since the acquisition by Kratos three years ago. We have doubled the workforce in that time and will continue to position ourselves for additional growth by adding state-of-the-art facilities to match the top talent we are hiring.”
The new facility will support growth in Kratos’ products sector, including HORUS, CRADLE and UltraSpec technologies, which align with the company’s core mission. Kratos, which acquired Southern Research Engineering in May 2022, now owns 52 acres in the area, where it operates laboratories for strategic deterrence, hypersonics, microelectronics, ISR and other advanced defence systems.
