Vertical Aerospace has secured financing commitments of approximately $100 million from a mix of existing and new investors to support certification and commercialisation of its Valo aircraft platform.
The package comprises three components. Mudrick Capital Management, the company's largest shareholder, will provide $40 million through a recently closed $5 million draw plus a further $35 million accelerated draw planned by August 12, 2026, both under Vertical's existing $50 million convertible note facility. A group of existing and new investors has committed $35 million through an underwritten offering of units, each comprising one ordinary share and one warrant, priced at $1.05 per unit and expected to close on or about August 11, 2026. A further $25 million will come from Vertical's preferred equity facility with Yorkville Advisors Global, L.P., settling the same day.
Stuart Simpson, CEO of Vertical, says: “Following the momentum generated by our progress over the last six months, including our piloted transition demonstrations at Farnborough, we are focused on converting operational progress and partner engagement into continued advancement of our certification and commercialisation strategy.”
The funding is intended to support several programme priorities including Critical Design Review, which establishes the certifiable design baseline for the aircraft, the opening of an expanded Energy Centre to triple battery production capacity, development of future production facilities in the UK and the retrofit of Vertical's third prototype aircraft for hybrid-electric flight testing in the first half of 2027.
The financing follows a run of technical and commercial progress for Vertical. Earlier this year the company became only the second globally to complete a piloted transition flight in a full-scale tiltrotor eVTOL, before completing five demonstration flights in five days at the Farnborough International Airshow, including the first public piloted eVTOL transition flights at the event. Vertical has also disclosed advanced discussions with the UK Government for up to £10 million of support for its first production facilities, a defence partnership with Near Earth Autonomy, confirmed interest from the UK Ministry of Defence and membership of the Honeywell Aerospace-led VERTI-GO initiative on eVTOL airspace integration. The Mudrick Capital component remains subject to definitive agreements. Vertical will provide updated cash and liquidity guidance alongside half-year results on August 13, 2026.
