Family of two-stage heavy-lift launch vehicles with reusable first stage (capable of 25 flights) whereby post lift-off and seperation, the first stage autonomously descends to a landing platform leaving the second stage engines to ignite and propel the payload into space, then the fairing separates and the payload is delivered into orbit.
Boeing X-37 Boeing Defense, Space & Security
Low-earth orbit, unmanned, reusable spacecraft used to demonstrate reusable space advancements, requires launch vehicle to exit atmosphere then can re-enter and land as a spaceplane (upon re-entry, vehicle is capable of Mach 25). DARPA involvement reflects potential military applications.

VORTEX: Véhicule Orbital Réutilisable de Transport et d’Exploration, reusable spaceplane program that lands and manoeuvres in space like an aircraft, for advancing space operations and commercial/science/military missions. Includes subscale VORTEX-D (flight demonstrator, 1:3 scale), and VORTEX-S (smart free flyer, 2:3 scale) variants, and full-scale VORTEX-C (cargo), and VORTEX-M (manned) variants. In development.
Dawn Aerospace Mk-II Aurora Dawn Aerospace
Commercial version of this remotely-piloted, reusable, suborbital rocket plane. Horizontal take off and parabolic flight trajectory at Mach 3+. Remote pilot control with autonomous pilot-assist. Powered by Dawn Aerospace's single pump-fed HTP/kerosene bi-propellant 4300 N thrust rocket engine. In development, including next-generation Mk-IIB with projected Mach 3.5 speed.

Reusable, hypersonic, hydrogen-fuelled, research spaceplane, capable of flying at Mach 5, and builds on technology developed through Reaction Engines' SABRE engine (Synergistic Air-Breathing Rocket Engine). In development, lead by European Space Agency (ESA) and Frazer-Nash.

Reusable launch system with scalable design that manoeuvres like an aircraft and is able to accelerate from Mach 5 to Mach 12. In development.
ISRO RLV Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)
Unmanned, Mach 5, reusable launch vehicle to help develop hypersonic flight, autonmous landing, air-breathing engine propulsion and powered cruise flight technologies, and lower launch costs. Initial research and engine development conducted with Advanced Technology Vehicle modified sounding rocket (ATV-D Series). Planned test flights: HEX - Hypersonic Flight Experiment (completed, 2016), LEX - Landing Experiment (completed, 2023-2024), OREX - Orbital Return Flight Experiment, and SPEX - Scramjet Propulsion Experiment. Rocket Lab Neutron Rocket Lab
Reusable medium-lift two-stage launch vehicle featuring nine Archimedes engines for first stage, one for second stage, and “Hungry Hippo” fairing meaning there is no separation between stages, instead the fairing opens like a clamshell to deploy the second stage from within the first stage and then closes for atmospheric reentry back to Earth. In development.
