Automatic Direction Finders (ADF) encompass the receivers, loop and sense antennas, bearing indicators, and control units that determine the relative bearing to ground-based Non-Directional Beacons (NDB) operating in the LF/MF frequency bands (190–1750 kHz), with modern units integrating digital signal processing, ARINC 429 data bus compatibility, and solid-state RF front-end circuitry for airborne installation.
