Electrohydrostatic actuators (EHAs) integrate a self-contained hydraulic circuit — comprising a variable-speed electric motor, fixed-displacement pump, and hydraulic cylinder — into a single power-by-wire (PBW) unit, eliminating dependence on a centralised hydraulic supply. EHAs are employed in flight control surface actuation, landing gear, and thrust reverser systems, with designs typically incorporating brushless DC motors, electrohydrostatic pump assemblies, and integrated position feedback via LVDT sensors.
