Exhaust systems cover the aft gas-path structures that collect, accelerate and discharge hot combustion gases from the turbine stages, encompassing convergent and convergent-divergent nozzles, exhaust cones, tail pipes, mixer assemblies and variable-area nozzle (VAN) mechanisms. Fabrication draws on nickel superalloys, titanium aluminides and ceramic matrix composites (CMCs), with processes including superplastic forming, diffusion bonding and thermal barrier coating (TBC) application.
