Mandrels are internal forming tools used in aerospace manufacturing to support, shape or maintain the geometry of hollow or tubular components during fabrication processes such as filament winding, resin transfer moulding (RTM), autoclave cure, tube bending and metal spinning, and are produced from materials including aluminium alloy, steel, soluble plaster, eutectic salts and composite layup-compatible elastomers.
