Self-locking bolts are threaded fasteners incorporating integral locking mechanisms — such as prevailing-torque nylon or metallic inserts, distorted-thread profiles, or chemically applied pre-applied adhesive patches — that resist loosening under vibration, dynamic loading, and thermal cycling without requiring separate locking hardware, and are manufactured to aerospace standards including MIL-SPEC and NAS specifications from alloys such as titanium, A286, and corrosion-resistant steel.
