Self-locking nuts are threaded fasteners engineered to resist loosening under vibration, dynamic loading, and thermal cycling, and cover all-metal prevailing-torque designs — including distorted-thread and oval-collar types — as well as non-metallic insert variants using nylon or PTFE locking elements, manufactured to aerospace standards such as MIL-SPEC, NAS, and MS in materials including titanium, A286, and corrosion-resistant steel alloys.
