Separators are mechanical hardware devices used to segregate, split or remove constituent phases from fluid or gas streams within aerospace systems, covering liquid–gas separation, water–air separation in environmental control systems (ECS), oil–air separation in engine lubrication circuits, and fuel–water separation, and employing technologies such as centrifugal impingement, coalescing media, baffle-plate construction, and sintered or woven mesh elements to defined AMS and MIL-SPEC standards.
