Solenoid valves for aerospace applications use electromagnetic actuation — typically a wound coil energising a ferromagnetic plunger or armature — to open or close fluid flow paths in hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel systems, with designs encompassing two-way and three-way configurations, poppet or spool internal geometry, and qualification to standards such as MIL-SPEC and DO-160.
