Turnbuckles are threaded tension-adjustment devices used in aircraft control cables, rigging and structural tie-rod systems to set and maintain precise cable tension, comprising a central barrel body with opposing right- and left-hand threaded end fittings — typically fork, eye or swaged terminals — manufactured to MIL-SPEC or NAS standards from corrosion-resistant steel, aluminium alloy or titanium.
