Aviat Aircraft rolls first Husky A-1C off the production line
Thursday, 29 November 2007

Aviat Aircraft's first copy of the new Husky A-1C has been rolled out to the flightline. The first issue was to be delivered to a buyer in Wichita, KS.

The new model features a 200 pound useful load increase, boosting total gross weight to 2,200 pounds. This was accomplished by beefing up the two main and tailwheel gear components. At the same time the angle of incidence for the horizontal stabilizer was lowered to preserve the excellent flight characteristics found in earlier models. The POH was modified and a new tachometer was added to the panel.

The useful load upgrade applies to Huskys with the 180 and 200 horsepower engine installations. Flight testing also secured TC approval for the 80" Hartzell metal and 76" composite propellers used on the 200 hp engine. The 200 and 180 hp engines can also be fitted with the 76" Hartzell and 80.5" MT composite propellers.

"The additional 200 pounds of useful load makes it possible to consider a wide range of additional mission profiles," said Aviat President Stu Horn. "The Husky now stands alone in its class for utility and recreational applications. With the options for straight or tundra tires, skis, floats and little more than a clearing for landings, the Husky is probably the most versatile aircraft currently in production."
