Airbus tasks Flightlab demonstrator with tech research

Airbus intends to test hybrid and electric propulsion technologies with its Flightlab, as well as exploring autonomy, and other technologies aimed at reducing helicopter sound or improving maintenance and safety.

7 January 2021 Teledyne CML Composites has received a contract from Airbus for the supply of composite wing components and assemblies on the A400M military aircraft.

Airbus sources A400M wing assemblies from Teledyne CML

Parts include a range of thermoplastic and pre-preg composite components to be supplied to the Airbus A400M composite wing box assembly line at the Filton facility in Bristol in the UK.

The G280 fuselage structures will be delivered just before the interior work of the aircraft. It is the first time that KAI has won an order for a complete fuselage structure including a seat rail.

17 December 2020 Magellan and BAE Systems have been working together to produce horizontal stabilizers for the global F-35 program since 2009.

The milestone has been reached eight years after the first delivery, but production is now at full rate and Magellan hopes these are just the first of up to 1,000 ship-sets over the program lifetime.

Cobham Mission Systems will provide the air refuelling probe for Korea Aerospace industries' FA-50 advanced jet aircraft. The solution will involve a bespoke telescopic probe.

3 December 2020 The fuselage of the Ka-226T helicopter is manufactured at the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant.

The Ka-226T is the first machine in Russia's helicopter industry to be developed entirely in virtual space without the use of paper media. Fuselages that reduce fuel system accidents are the latest piece of the puzzle.

11 November 2020 Meggitt will supply radome technology for the Multi-Function Array radar system on the Typhoon.

Meggitt has designed a higher and broader bandwidth radome to protect from environmental effects, prevent interference whilst being highly transmissive for the AESA radar system's operational modes.

The first set of passenger access doors, baggage doors and emergency doors for the all-electric Alice are due for delivery in the first quarter of next year. They will be lightweight carbon fibre.

9 September 2020 Final assembly of the KF-X prototype has begun.

South Korea's KF-X prototype arrives at final assembly

The KF-X's mission computer and flight control computer are scheduled to be mounted on the prototype after performance tests this year, in time to perform ground tests. First flight is slated for 2022.
