CubCrafters today announced that Garmin's new AXIS integrated flight display system will be available throughout the company's product lineup for both factory-new aircraft and retrofit installations.
Following more than eighteen months of joint engineering and product integration work with Garmin, CubCrafters customers will be able to specify AXIS on new aircraft orders while existing owners of compatible CubCrafters aircraft will have access to factory-authorised retrofit packages.
Announced by Garmin on July 8, AXIS represents a new generation of integrated flight displays, combining primary flight display, multi-function display, and, on select models, IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radio, and audio panel functionality into a single system. The highly integrated architecture reduces installation complexity, saves weight, and provides a clean, modern cockpit experience.
"CubCrafters has always worked to bring the most capable, most reliable avionics solutions to our customers," said Patrick Horgan, President and CEO of CubCrafters. "I first flew AXIS on Garmin's engineering simulator during a visit to their headquarters over two years ago, and I was immediately impressed with both the capability of the system and the elegance of its user interface. Since then, our engineering teams have been working closely with Garmin for the past year and a half to integrate AXIS across our aircraft lineup. We're excited to be among the first manufacturers to offer this remarkable new technology to both new and existing CubCrafters owners."
Because AXIS shares compatibility with many existing Garmin sensors and accessories, and incorporates an efficient upgrade path from Garmin G3X Touch installations, many CubCrafters aircraft will benefit from simplified installation and reduced downtime during retrofit projects. The system's flexible architecture also supports future expansion while maintaining the clean, lightweight panel designs that have become a hallmark of modern CubCrafters aircraft.
AXIS will be available across the entire CubCrafters aircraft lineup, including the Carbon Cub UL, Carbon Cub ULT, Carbon Cub FX, EX, XCub, and NX Cub, bringing Garmin's newest integrated avionics platform to every aircraft model manufactured by CubCrafters.
Retrofit installations will be performed through CubCrafters' factory service centre in Yakima, Washington, with availability expanding through the company's Authorised Service Centre network as Garmin product availability and certification schedules permit.
"Whether purchasing a new aircraft or upgrading an airplane already in the field, our customers expect the very best technology available," Horgan added. "Garmin has once again raised the bar, and we're proud to offer AXIS as part of the CubCrafters ownership experience."
Customers interested in ordering AXIS-equipped aircraft or scheduling retrofit installations are encouraged to contact CubCrafters Sales or their local CubCrafters Authorised Service Centre.
