PRESS RELEASE
Issued by: Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics WA
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics, a leading manufacturer of high-performance polymer components, introduces Meldin ® 7000, a high-temperature solution for aerospace finished parts. Exhibiting a unique combination of performance properties, including dimensional stability at high temperature, and longer life at higher loads and speeds, Meldin 7000 fortifies the overall performance of key aircraft equipment and enhances their operational efficiency. In addition, Meldin 7000 provides aerospace OEMs with direct access to Saint-Gobain's design and co-engineering capabilities, material testing resources, and machining expertise, providing total process control form powder-to-parts.
"Meldin 7000 not only provides the level of high-temperature performance that aerospace customers expect from their finished parts, but can also increase overall process efficiency," according to Robert Gaiser, Business Manager, Meldin, Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics. "Meldin 7000 service offerings allow for enhanced operations and gives customers the security of a single-source supply chain."
Able to withstand continuous use up to 315°C (600°F) and intermittent use up to 482°C (900°F), and chemically resistant to solvents and other aerospace chemicals, Meldin 7000 is ideal for challenging aerospace applications. With its exceptional wear resistance, superior electric and thermal insulation properties, and low coefficient of friction, Meldin 7000 can be used in components of auxiliary power units (APUs), de-icing systems, cabin air-conditioning systems, actuators, jet engines, and landing gear systems.
Meldin 7000 service offerings include machine shop capabilities, helping OEMs remove one level of the supply chain and streamline product development. Meldin 7000 also provides design and co-engineering expertise, such as engineer-to-engineer collaboration on technical issues, product development and prototype test parts. Finally, Meldin 7000 can validate and/or screen parts through rotating sealing ring and thrust washer testing.
"Meldin 7000 brings a combination of innovative material science and expert one-on-one design and engineering support to the aerospace market," says Ken Smith, Product Manager, Meldin. "Meldin 7000 advanced high-temperature finished parts support the overall performance of key aircraft equipment and fortify our customers' brands."
