Issued by: Bell Helicopter Textron
Bell Helicopter, a Textron Inc. company (NYSE: TXT), was recognized for its recycling program by the North Texas Corporate Recycling Association (NTCRA) at the Green Awards event on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Bell Helicopter was claimed winner of the Stupendous Recycling Service category.
"We are extremely pleased to be recognized for our recycling program at Bell Helicopter," said Pete Riley, executive vice president, Integrated Operations. "This award acknowledges our 7,000 Dallas-Fort Worth employees for their continued efforts to reduce, reuse, and recycle."
Bell Helicopter, along with other Textron Inc. companies, is on a mission to reduce energy, waste, and greenhouse gases by 20 percent by the year 2015. Bell Helicopter has already surpassed this goal in waste reduction with the expansion of their recycling program. In 2010, Bell Helicopter began to recycle and reuse wood, office furniture, and sand blast material in addition to steel, aluminum, plastic and paper. To date in 2011, Bell Helicopter's Dallas-Fort Worth facilities have recycled over 1,500 tons of waste, reaching a 50 percent landfill diversion in August.
